IF YOU TRAVEL TO CUBA, BRING AID IN YOUR LUGGAGE

Our NGO HOMBRE NUEVO, TIERRA NUEVAsend since 2000, thanks to travelers, tons of human aid.

Thanks to many donors (pharmacies, companies, big NGOs, etc.) we can send numerous aid that, with a process of distribution in bags, are prepared for their send to the island.
Many times we are asked about how our Send of Humanitarian Aid program works.

These are some, but if you have more questions, please ask:

Hoiw much can I bring? Can I have some trouble?

Depending on the airline company and the acquired ticket, each traveler has from 20 to 40 kilos. The law from the Cuban Custom allows to bring up to 10 kilos of medicine.

How do you recollect and give the aid?

The NGO prepares the travel bags with the agreed weight and we bring it where it's distributed. In Cuba, a responsible travel to recollect it on an agreed meeting point. There you'll have the possibility to visit and learn about our project.

What do I bring in my luggage? Does the aid trully arrive?

The bags have to be delivered open and with enough time to check that everything is of primary need. These aids consist of medicines, cleaning products, school supplies, shoes and new clothes, glasses, and children's books.
This material is distributed in Caritas dispensaries in various areas (Habana, Santiago de Cuba, Matanzas, Sancti Spiritus, etc.), or if you use our projects (kid libraries, playrooms, etc.).

All the travelers are invited to learn about our project on-site.

IF YOU WANT PREPARE YOUR LUGGAGE WITH AIDS.

Some people prefer to organize their bag with aids for our ONG projects.

How?
It's very simple: if we check our boxes we'll find something that we'll detail and that would be very useful for our aid.

Medicines (not expired).

What are the requested medicines in Cuba?
Our collaborators in Cuba say that all are necessary, without being expired, but they sent us this list that you can download.

Toiletries: soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, etc.

School supplies: pensils, pens, notebook, pencil shapener etc.

Children's books (not text books).Household linen: sheets, towels, etc.

New or well-used clothing and footwear.

Anything valuable that doesn't require any expenses or batteries, electricity, etc.

Many people prefer to deliver aid to the people who ask on the streets. With all the respect for the people who do that, we believe that not all the people who ask, in any part of the world, are in need. We believe it is better to divide aid by knowing the needs of the people who live around you and inside a wider project.
